The Colours of Autumn
As an artist, autumn is my favourite season for painting. You see it every year with artist's work, as the light changes and the leaves turn a beautiful golden brown, so does the art work people bring to the gallery. The greens are replaced with swirls of oranges and yellows and the trees shine red like they are on fire and appropriately each painting warms my heart and the gallery. I find that there's something almost magical when it comes to hanging autumn scenes, the joy I feel hanging them some how brings peace to my soul especially when it comes to hanging them in my own home.
I paint pretty much solely autumn paintings, which means I get the pleasure of hanging all of them in my home for the on the wall test. Every time I see an autumn painting above my lit fireplace everything in the living room just fades away until it's just the warming glow of orange from the painting, the flicks of yellow and red from the fire and me curled up on the sofa. This does make it hard to take it off the wall to bring it to the gallery but it allows me to paint more, it also hopefully gives someone else the chance to experience what I got to feel staring at the painting on my wall. Try bringing autumn into you house this year and as the temperature drops and the days grow darker, let the art light and warm your heart.
